3 Things We Learned at Oktoberfest

October 5, 2016 Allison & Danielle

This year's Oktoberfest + Bavaria Adventure was beyond words. The group, the weather, the adventures...There's enough goodness to talk about for days! Instead of reminiscing in full detail, we thought you'd like to hear three of the best (and probably unexpected) lessons we learned at this year's Oktoberfest!

#1: DON'T JUST STOP AT OKTOBERFEST!

Sure, Oktoberfest is one heck of a reason to visit Munich in September, but let's remember that Munich is the capital of the immensely beautiful state of BAVARIA, and this time of year is a PERFECT time to see it. There are quaint villages and breathtaking landscapes that are made for hiking, biking, and even paragliding. We start our adventure in the mountains, and this year we had perfectly sunny skies the majority of the trip. The pictures really do speak for themselves!

#2: TAKE A SPIN AROUND MUNICH

Take it from us, if there is one way to see Munich, it's by bike! Oktoberfest is the perfect time of year to see Munich, with the fall leaves changing and mild temperatures, exploring by bike is the best way to take in the most of this jovial time of year. If you want an informative and comedic tour, Mike's Bike Tour is the way to go. However, Munich is a very bike friendly city, so you can also rent bikes and explore on your own!

#3: WEAR GOOD SHOES WHILE YOU BOOZE

Walking the grounds of the Wiesn (that's what the locals call the Oktoberfest), dancing on tables and being swept off your feet by a handsome man in lederhosen is sure to happen at Oktoberfest. That being said, it's super important to wear comfortable closed toed shoes that can take you from morning till night! Check out our squad and their shoe choices...Wise, wise women!

A NOTE FROM WHOA CO-FOUNDERS + CHIEF ADVENTURERS

Every year during our Oktoberfest + Bavaria Adventure we connect with an organization to give back and leave a positive impact. In the past we have hosted yoga classes to raise funds for a sports field at our partner girl's school in Kenya, organized a bike ride for breast cancer, joined forces with Charity Miles, and this year our adventurer's donated supplies that are needed for the many refugees seeking asylum in Germany. One of the beautiful things about WHOA is the compassion of our travelers, and the team spirit that is brought out through these adventures. We love seeing how our community comes together for something larger than themselves, it's what continues to make these experiences more real! Keep being awesome, team!
